Nicholson Plastics was established in 1968 as a family business in the town of Lanark, Scotland. Lanark is a small town in the centre of Scotland, in the county town of Lanarkshire. It is situated between Glasgow and Edinburgh with frequent rail and bus services to the major cities. The company currently employs people across all disciplines from sales and admin to general operatives who manage the manufacture of all of our GRP products. Today, the company operates from Lanark and Croydon, supplying water tanks to UK and internally through our export division.

The Role

The Logistics Administrator will be expected to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment carrying out all administration duties as required to support the office, this primarily involves processing customer orders. The role requires you to be pro-active, fast-paced and be able to handle multiple enquiries at any one time.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responding to customer enquiries both via email and on the phone.
  • Working with the Customer service team to ensure deliveries are in-line with the installation schedule.
  • Sectional and One-piece confirmations for all orders.
  • Responsible for ensuring completed deliveries have delivery notes put through.
  • Maintain the system by keeping it up to date & tidy.
  • Updating the team and customers with ETA’s throughout the day.
  • Liaising and booking with various hauliers in different locations.
  • Managing and tracking delivery of third party supplier items.
  • General administration duties, including; data input, responding to emails, filing etc.
  • Assisting the Regional Customer Service team with daily tasks;
  • Providing cover for the Customer Service department as and when required;
  • Any other duties as assigned by the management team, to ensure the needs of the business are met.

Vacancy: General Operative

General Operative

Lanark – Full-time

Job Purpose: Production of GRP Products.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Preparing moulds for manufacture, including repairs and maintenance;
  • Applying release agents to the mould surface prior to manufacture;
  • Cutting and measuring foam insulation and steelwork;
  • Using spray machines to apply gelcoat & fiberglass to moulds;
  • Applying glass matting and resin to moulds, hand layup;
  • Consolidation of fiberglass & resin with rollers ensuring a quality finish;
  • Setting up of wooden & GRP moulds to manufacture drawings;
  • Releasing of moulded products from mould once cured;
  • Working from manufacturing drawings to mark, cut, drill and fit ancillary items;
  • Maintaining equipment and reporting any faults;
  • Quality checks, measuring product thickness and undertaking water tests;
  • Completing documentation for traceability and quality assurance;
  • Locating and packaging goods for collection;
  • Working within Health and Safety guidelines;
  • Any other duties as assigned, to support the Company.

Vacancy: Internal Sales Advisor

Internal Sales Advisor – Nicholson Plastics

Location: Lanark

Reports to: Sales Manager

 The Role

This position would suit a candidate currently working in a targeted sales role, for example, a call centre, car sales or any form of retail sales, who is looking for a technical sales position as part of a collaborative and friendly office where there is scope for further development.

Full training will be provided, including comprehensive sales process training and technical training.

Responsibilities

The Sales Advisor will work closely with the Sales team and be responsible for:

  • Contacting the existing customer base through both emails and phone calls;
  • Reviewing incoming enquiries and extracting the relevant information;
  • Updating and maintaining data on a bespoke CRM system;
  • Acknowledgment and processing of orders;
  • Preparing quotations for customers;
  • Ensuring all admin paperwork is recorded and filed correctly;
  • Liaising with customers and other departments to assist the sales team;
  • Updating external sales teams on any developments relevant to their key accounts;
  • Creating project files.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Experience of a targeted sales environment would be advantageous but not essential;
  • Ability to prioritise and organise workload;
  • Good knowledge of MS Office;
  • Ability to make recommendations and improvements to procedures/working practices.
  • Strong team working skills with ability to work on own when required.
