Brief Background
The Client, Kings Norton Railway Station, required an increased water capacity to the two 188,000 litre tanks they had onsite. These were used for the chemical spraying of tracks during the night, to remove leaves and other debris. The tanks no longer provided sufficient water for the required track area. Each evening, water from the tanks are mixed with chemicals during the filling of the spray trains which are then used to spray over a large area which had increased over time.
The Solution
The original bases required considerable lengthening from 15 meters to 22mts to accomodate the larger replacement tanks, and needed to be the same height as the original concrete bases. To maintain supply it was necessary for one tank to be removed and the base altered and allowed to cure before the first tank could be installed. Once completed, the process was repeated for the second tank, which was completed to an agreed timeframe with the minimum of disruption.
The Result
It was important to maintain safety on the railway network. The water supply had to remain available, to ensure that track spraying was not affected. In order for our client to fullfill their contract, the job had to be completed within a short timespan and required Nicholson Plastics installers to work closely with the clients operatives on site.
